Miss Rio Grande Valley

Its 15th year in South Texas, the Miss Rio Grande Valley USA and Miss Rio Grande Valley Teen USA pageant

The pageant has dance and musical numbers that use musical selections from the 2006 movie, said Debi Chavez, whose company DebiLou Productions puts on the pageants. The pageants’ 25 competitors (13 will compete in the “Miss” category and 12 in the “Teen” category) have been practicing for five weeks for the final show Saturday at the McAllen Convention Center.

The pageant also includes cameos and hosting by several big names within the pageant world, Chavez said. Nicole O’Brien, Miss Texas USA 2003, is co-hosting the pageant with KRGV-TV Channel 5 reporter Alex Treviño. O’Brien, a Houston native, is an actress who finished third on The Amazing Race reality TV show, and has appeared on Days of Our Lives. Other guests include 2006 Miss Texas USA Lauren Manning of Houston and Rio Grande Valley native Shannon Felici-Sauceda, an actress in Los Angeles and former Miss Rio Grande Valley USA.

“The Valley has a lot of beautiful women, and the Valley likes to see them,” she said. “It’s a showcase of all the talented, beautiful, dynamic and motivated young women in the Valley. It should be very entertaining.”
